Cooking for Carers
In the lockdowns, and in the hard times inbetween, I cooked healthy, delicious, FREE meals for Carers, NHS staff, food banks, a community centre and anyone I thought needed a hand. I cooked the meals with love and care and it was a privilege to be able to do so.
I remain utterly inspired by the NHS, Community Centre and Care Home Staff I meet. They make me want to be kinder, work harder and just be better.
Testimonials
These come from my 2024 nomination for the Craft Guild of Chefs Culinary Hero Award, recognizing the charitable work that I’ve done over the years“I cannot thank you enough for all that you are doing for us. The food you have cooked and supplied is always so well received and we are so very grateful for (not to mention delicious of course!). The team are exhausted when they come out from the intensive care unit into the rest room and not to have to plan meals and food has been so good for them. Thank you for looking after us so we can look after the patients.
Best wishes and many thanks”
“As a single mum to 3 children, working as a nurse during lockdown, it was a very tough time. I was working extra hours and being relatively new to the area with no family or friends nearby for support it was difficult juggling everything. Having meals prepared for me and the children made life a little easier to manage and was also a huge help financially. Alex has continued to support us with meals and food and it has been a privilege getting to know him. Alex worked tirelessly making meals for vulnerable people as well as NHS staff and I certainly felt very blessed for his ongoing selflessness and support.”
A Senior Specialist Nurse for Teenagers & Young Adults with CancerAlex worked with children and young people with special needs and his love, passion and enthusiasm was infectious and the kids just loved him. His cookery workshops were always a highlight of our culinary calendar.
Many of our children had profound special needs, but this never discourage Alex, quite the opposite, he wanted to get more involved.
Alex was always flexible and could teach any children how to cook something delicious. He was fun, creative and always made the children laugh and enjoy their cooking experience.
